A little information about shower pan construction. From the 70's thru the90's shower pan were built using a PVC vinyl liner that is nailed into place. then the pan mortar was laid into place and tiled on top. This type of pan utilizes a weep hole system to allow the wet mortar to slowly drain into the drainpipe. Upon removal of this type of failed pan system there are two common failures. first using nails puts holes in the liner, second the weep holes plug. I use a 'Kurdi'
membrane system that is mortared to the top of the pan mortar. No nail holes, no weep holes, no wet pan of mortar. bottom line, no leaks, and no mold. |

Project: Remodel a Bathroom Comments: We liked Marty very much. He worked hard and was meticulous about his work. He tried very hard to give us what we wanted even when we changed the plan as we went along. He seemed very knowledgeable and helped us along the way in areas we knew nothing about. We loved Bowzie, his work partner, a beagle :) We are currently using the shower he installed for us and couldn't be happier with the end result. |
